SARDINELLA is a traditional Maltese townhouse, set in the heart of the village of Zurrieq, close to the Blue Grotto.

Built just after World War 2, this house is an authentic townhouse featuring bright, high-ceiling rooms endowed with hand-painted floor tiles. Sardinella can accommodate up to 6 people in 2 bedrooms and a private sofa-bed in the living room.

The fully-equipped kitchen features a gas cooker, fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, electric kettle and all the cutlery and kitchenware required. Adjacent to the kitchen, one may also enjoy a bright internal yard which also leads to the roof terrace offering views of the village and the church close-by.

The property has a family bathroom and an en-suite bathroom, both with large walk-in showers.

The living room is equipped with 32-inch TV (Satellite) and free WiFi.

The village offers quite a selection of casual eateries and take-aways, however there are some places we love to visit and would like to recommend. To savour the taste of the Mediterranean, Il Corsaro and Tax-Xiha (both in Wied iz-Zurrieq) specialise in fish dishes and local cuisine. In the village square, do not miss the pastizzi at Terminus Bar. It may look a bit rough on the outside, but the locals are very welcoming.

Zurrieq and the adjacent fishermen’s hamlet, Wied iz-Zurrieq offer many activities especially for those that enjoy spending time in the countryside. Here are some of our recommendations:

  • Take an evening jog down the promenade. You can enjoy the sunset as you head towards Blue Grotto
  • Visit the Blue Grotto. There is a viewing platform on the roadside, but we also love the boat trip that takes you right into the caves.
  • Explore the countryside. Start with the Xarolla Windmill and keep discovering the rural dwellings of yesteryear
  • The Church dedicated to St. Catherine boasts the works of renowned Mattia Preti
  • The UNESCO World Heritage temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra are only 3.5km away.
  • The villagers celebrate 2 festas during July and August. Do not hesitate to join the party!

CHECK-IN & CHECK OUT

The standard check-in time is after 2pm and check-out by 10am. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY

The maximum number of guests is limited to the number of persons booked. Children up to the age of 2 are free of charge.

SMOKING POLICY

This is a non smoking property. Smoking is only allowed on the terrace.

PETS

Pets are not permitted in rental units under any conditions.

INCLUSIVE FEES

Rates include a linen and towel setup per week. Water and 20 units of electricity daily is included in the rental price which covers an average consumption. In case of electricity over-consumption guests can purchase additional electricity cards (€20 per card).

HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE

While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is NOT included in the rental rate. We do not permit bath towels or linens to be taken from the property, but we provide extra beach towels for your use.

WATER CLOSET

DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the drainage system, you could be charged damages of up to two hundred Euro (€200).

TV & WiFi

TV is provided and service level has been chosen by the Landlord. No refund of rents shall be given for outages, content, lack of content, or personal preferences with regard to TV service. High speed wireless internet is provided as a convenience only and is not integral to the booking. No refund of rents shall be given for outages, content, lack of content, speed, access problems, lack of knowledge of use, or personal preferences with regard to internet service.

AIR CONDITIONING (Heating & Cooling)

The Tenants agree that air conditioning shall not be set below 21 degrees Celsius and heat shall not be set above 26, and that the fan setting shall be “Auto”. Doors and windows shall be closed when either heat or air conditioning is in operation. Air Conditioning units shall NOT be left switched on whilst the room or the premises are unoccupied. If it is found that the air conditioning unit has not been switched off before leaving the room or premises, you could be charged up to twenty Euro (€20) a day.

FALSIFIED BOOKINGS

Any Tenants making a booking under false pretense will not be permitted to check in.
